The brief:

The BFI festival in South London hosts themed film events in which several films in the same genre are screened within a few weeks. They requested a promotional poster for one such event, which was focused on films about space travel to the moon. The event was called The Space Race. This was a student brief with a deadline of two days. 

The solution:

Space travel is complex and highly technical, and I aimed to capture this in my promotional poster, which was intricately folded to reveal information about the event as well as rich images showing the history of space exploration. The Space Race was a monumental period in history that both incredibly hopeful and extremely terrifying, and the design of this poster shows both the highs and lows of our relationship with the moon.
